About This Listing
Beautiful one-owner Huss & Dalton DS-R Custom slope shouldered dreadnaught with an Adirondack top and a stunning set of Honduran Rosewood for the back and sides! This guitar was a rare opportunity for us to add a well seasoned 'near vintage' guitar to our collection, and it has been a joy to listen to and to look at! The sound is is deep and rich - mature, if you will! The attached demonstration video - courtesy of our good friend Doug Yeomans - sounds terrific but doesn't do the guitar justice! Of all the guitars in our shop, this is the one that our visitors - like world class guitarists like Trey Hensley and Joe Robinson - couldn't put down! Nut width is 1-23/32". Long scale at 25.4". String spacing at the saddle is 2-7/32". The sound hole is larger than typical at 4-3/8". The guitar is 4-7/8" deep at the end pin, and the lower bout is 15-3/4" across. The neck carve has a comfortable, thin profile. Couple things: Doug 'misspeaks' and refers to this fine back & side set as Madagascar - it does look a lot like Madi, and sounds even better to our ears. Also, you'll notice some string change scratches on the back of the headstock, as well as a chip on the top edge of the headstock. The original owner lived in Virginia when he ordered this guitar through a local dealer, and had an opportunity to visit the original Huss & Dalton shop in Stuarts Draft on at least one occasion - where he picked out this beautiful figured Honduran back & side set. He also got Jeff Huss and Mark Dalton to sign the underside of the soundboard in pencil - we'll included a pic in the photo array later. The original owner has lived in Buffalo for a long time now, not too far from where The Fretted Buffalo is located in the historic Black Rock neighborhood!
