About This Listing

Brand New Iris slope shouldered dreadnaught, model DF Burst, with a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. Comparable in size to a J-45, it's model name derives from Iris co-founder Dale Fairbanks. Lightweight and easy to play, this dread is a powerhouse! Short scale at 25", it sports a 1-3/4" nut (Iris standard is 1-11/16") with string spacing at the bridge of 2-7/32".

You can see and hear this guitar in the attached demonstration video which can be found in the photo array, courtesy of our good friend Doug Yeomans!

The guitar is built with scalloped Adirondack Spruce bracing and a bolt-on Mortise and Tenon neck joint. The bridge and fingerboard are Indian Rosewood. The nut and saddle are bone. An open pore, natural satin Nitrocellulose finish is used, which allows for the natural, woody sound of this and other Iris guitars.

The tuners are Golden Age Relic brass with off-white buttons, like the ones produced by Waverly from the 1920'3 to the 1940's except with a 15:1 gear ration for better tuning. Strung with D'Addario XS coated light gauge strings. Comes with a hardshell plush lined TKL case, as pictured.
